A better speech than Hilary Benn

While Hilary Benn's speech this week in favour of bombing Syria has been heralded as one of the great parliamentary speeches (and likened by Blair's Iraq invasion speech by John McDonnell who suggested that bad things happen following great oration), perhaps we needed The Doctor to speak in Parliament instead?

Violence begats violence and is a childish response that lacks thinking and a clear goal. Understanding the issues and working on joint solutions, both political and diplomatic are the key to de-escalating conflict. Bombing the crap out of country that has 11 million people displaced, 4m refugees and 250,000 dead is not the answer. It will simply lead to more refugees (that the UK refuses to take responsibility for) and it will increase radicalisation, i.e. it will begat violence.
