Letter to the Gazette:
While the salary of the new Chief Executive of East Kent Hospitals may have been benchmarked against others (Kentish Gazette 29th Jan), it is still an eye watering amount to pay especially at a time when other hospital staff may have just won the fight for a modest 1% rise – the first pay rise in 4 years.
Clearly, the Trust needs a good leader to bring it out of special measures and it seems that they have found someone who has done this elsewhere but what message does a four day week earning £1400 a day send to the rest of the staff?
While health care assistants are earning around £60 per day, should anyone earn 25 times more that the lowest paid person? I don’t think so.
