Depressing stuff

From the Guardian: "The world is likely to build so many fossil-fuelled power stations, energy-guzzling factories and inefficient buildings in the next five years that it will become impossible to hold global warming to safe levels, and the last chance of combating dangerous climate change will be "lost for ever", according to the most thorough analysis yet of world energy infrastructure."

As it was ever likely to be while the world continues to worship on the alter of unfettered capitalism. While Europe begins to crash and burn, the depression is unlikely to stop the rest of world continuing to play catch up with our mistakes and consumption.

The safe level of 350ppm was passed around 1990 and is rising at around 2 - 3ppm each year and accelerating (currently at around 390ppm).

Sadly the world remains focussed on the economy, forgetting that the economy will be damaged beyond recognition by catastrophic climate change and peak resource use.

This is a real bad news. Day by day we must think of energy saving and environmental friendly energy resources. Still we cannot get rid of this mindset of development. Development processes are not always nature friendly.
